About the IAPP

Junichi Ishii has been Director for International Affairs at Personal Information Protection Commission, Japan (PPC) since April 2018. His work in the PPC focuses on promotion of Cross-Border Privacy Rules, which are now being globalized in a newly established Forum; ensuring trust in government access in particular context of cross-border flows of personal data; and enhancing relationship with foreign counterparts in bilateral as well as multi-lateral ways including international fora such as Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
