Mouritz Legal

Attorney at Law

Abraham is a tech savvy and business oriented attorney at law with 25+ years of legal experience. Abraham has been advising clients on data protection well before the GDPR got everyone’s attention. "Privacy to me is way more than just following and implementing data protection rules. It is all about trying to get a grip on the use being made of our personal data. The GDPR provides a nice set of tools to start the journey to reclaim ownership of one’s personal data."

Abraham started as an attorney at law at law firms in both Amsterdam and Brussels. With over 15 years of in-house legal experience in various U.S. multinationals, Abraham has set up his own law firm of Mouritz Legal in Amsterdam in 2016. The firm is specialized in legal aspects of data protection, technology, AI and cyber security. The firm has clients in various industries, such as cyber security, FMCG, fintech, banking, energy, and e-health. Abraham has also advised various major Amsterdam law firms on data protection.

In 2018, Abraham was awarded the "Dutch Independent Legal Award" for excellence in the areas of data protection and technology concepts. He was again nominated for the award in 2023 and 2024.

Abraham frequently publishes on data protection and AI concepts on such platforms as LinkedIn. A special area of attention is where AI and privacy intersect, such as when AI algorithms make automated decisions, which in turn can drastically affect people’s lives. This will be one of Abrahams major areas of focus in the years to come.'

Abraham is a contributing member of the IAPP and provides the input for the IAPP's annual "Legislative Predictions" for The Netherlands.
