Jared Rinehimer, CIPP/US, CIPT

Jared Rinehimer is the Chief of the Privacy and Responsible Technology Division in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, and was a founding member of the Division upon its creation in 2020. The Division’s goals are to promote fairness in the digital economy, encourage the responsible development of new technologies, protect consumers from online threats and the unfair or deceptive collection, use, and disclosure of consumers’ personal data, and ensure that entities protect the security and integrity of Massachusetts residents’ personal information. He also has oversight over the office’s civil gaming enforcement work. Jared previously was an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division, where in addition to data security work, he pursued investigations into student loan servicing, online advertising, and online lending practices. Jared received a B.S. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University, an M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington (Seattle), and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
