Hiroyuki Tanaka

Hiroyuki Tanaka is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto. He practices data protection law in addition to IP and IT law. Tanaka has extensive experience advising foreign clients on Japanese data protection law and global data compliance. He is admitted both in Japan (Daini Tokyo Bar Association) and New York, and is familiar with global data protection regulations, including the EU GDPR, and U.S. regulations, including the CCPA. He also has a long list of publication credits relating to his areas of expertise. Tanaka was recognized as Global Elite Thought Leader in the data practice area (Client Choice 2025) in Lexology Index. He was also recognized as Data Security Lawyer of the Year in Tokyo by Best Lawyers.
