About the IAPP

Halak Shrivastava is a seasoned technology policy expert, and a lawyer by training, with 15 years of experience specializing in AI, data governance, and privacy. Currently, she serves as the Global Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs Lead at Cohere, where she advises on policy strategies for AI, competition, copyright, and data policy issues. In this role, Halak has led high-priority projects, negotiated with global policymakers to secure funding, and spearheaded Cohere’s safety and security team in developing their Secure AI Framework. 

Prior to Cohere, Halak led AI, Privacy, and Financial Services for Google Cloud’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, collaborating with regional policy teams to shape regulatory outcomes and providing actionable advice to business units. 

Halak also has a global consulting background, having worked with top-tier technology clients to develop privacy and compliance strategies, shape policy discussions, and access new markets. Previously, as an International Public Policy Manager at Access Partnership, she advised private companies and governments on ICT policy, cloud computing, internet governance, and cybersecurity. Her expertise spans advising global clients on AI, data protection, and privacy regulations, making her a trusted leader in the intersection of technology and policy.
