Begüm Yavuzdogan Okumus, CIPP/E
Begüm Yavuzdogan Okumus is a managing associate at Gün+Partners and with the firm since 2007.
She has expertise in corporate and M&A as well as in TMT. Begüm represents multinational and local businesses in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, telecoms and information technologies. Her main practice in TMT is related with data protection/privacy issues and technology law. Begüm regularly advises multinationals in the technology industry, involves in IT outsourcing projects, provide consultancy on data privacy issues, drafts SOPs, terms of use or privacy policies. She regularly conducts data protection compliance projects in multinational companies and gives trainings.
Begüm regularly publishes articles on technology law and data privacy issues. In 2010, she was a speaker at CyberSpaceCamp Program “New Digital Order and Its Reflections to the Law” held in Istanbul and delivered a presentation on “IT Outsourcing from Turkish Law Perspective,” and, in 2012, Begüm was a speaker at ITechlaw Conference held in Bangalore, India, and made a presentation on “VoIP: Emerging Regulatory and Legal Issues in EU & Asia”.
In 2016, she made a presentation at 2nd Turkey Cloud Computing Forum in Istanbul on “How to get prepared for the new requirements under the new data protection law?” and attended Technology, Media and Telecommunications Forum 2016 in London and chaired a panel and talked about the impact of GDPR to non-EU companies.
