About the IAPP

Renzo Marchini is a partner in European law firm, Fieldfisher's leading privacy and information law group with over 20 years' experience in advising clients across different sectors and ranging from start-ups to multinationals.  

He has a particular focus on cloud computing, the “internet of things”, analytics, and big data. 

Renzo's data protection expertise includes international compliance projects, privacy impact assessments, cross-border data flows, data breach response and disputes around subject access and other individual rights. He enjoys working closely with clients to devise pragmatic solutions to their compliance needs, often global in scope.

Prior to becoming a solicitor, he worked for five years as a software engineer at Logica (now CGI), a major independent UK software house, where he was engaged in designing, programming and testing complex software applications (primarily in an UNIX/C environment).

Renzo has written a book on the law of cloud computing: Cloud Computing: A Practical Introduction to the Legal Issues, the second edition of which was published by BSI in April 2015. More generally, Renzo lectures and writes regularly on data protection and cloud.
