A veteran litigator with more than 20 years of experience, Brenda Sharton serves as co-chair of Goodwin Procter's Privacy & Data Security and Business Litigation Practices.Her practice focuses on data privacy breach investigations and technology-related litigation matters, including representing clients in flash cookie litigation, the latest area of attack by plaintiffs' attorneys.Sharton was recently lead trial counsel for People's United Bank in a case involving a data security breach incident that has been closely followed by the banking industry.She also has extensive experience in all areas of commercial and business litigation, internal investigations and civil regulatory matters.



In 2012, Sharton received the Boston College Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) Curtin Award for Public Service for her work with the Victim Rights Law Center, which provides pro bono legal representation to victims of rape and sexual assault.She has also been recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in the area of business litigation.
