Russell Nel, CIPP/US, CIPT, FIP
Russell is an independent information security and privacy consultant.
He holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in IT from the University of Johannesburg, and has over 10 years’ experience as a consultant. He was previously a manager in the Technology Advisory departments of both KPMG and PwC.
He is a Certified Lead Privacy Implementer (through the PECB and in line with ISO 29100 standards), and holds a dual certification through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
He is also a Certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and is a certified trainer for both ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and Certified Lead Privacy Implementer courses.
Russell has worked mainly in the private sector, with a large focus on financial services and telecommunications.
He has been involved in some of the large privacy programmes in South Africa, and has performed a multitude of gap assessments and awareness sessions for clients of varying sizes and across industries.
