About the IAPP

Betsy joined Capital One as a Director, Privacy Compliance, in December 2021. Prior to joining Capital One, Betsy worked at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for 14 years where she was an Assistant General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel. Betsy served as a CIA Deputy Chief within the CIA Directorate of Digital Innovation overseeing a team of attorneys specializing in privacy and civil liberties, cybersecurity, data management, and information technology. Betsy and her team were responsible for providing legal and policy counsel to the CIA Chief Information Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer, and the Chief Data Officer. Betsy graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, has a law degree from Duquesne University School of Law, and a Master of Laws from Kings’ College London.
