About the IAPP

Angela Fonseca is a dual-qualified lawyer in Brazil and New York State, and is the current head of transactions and M&A at Licks Attorneys, a Brazilian law firm. She has 15-year experience advising companies in a variety of industries -- SaaS, life sciences, agrotech and sports -- in cross-border investments, data privacy, innovation, and regulatory matters. Angela previously lectured Corporate Law at Candido Mendes University, Rio de Janeiro Brazil, and served as a Visiting International Scholar at Crowell & Moring, in Washington, D.C. She volunteered for the Rio de Janeiro Public Defendant’s Office in human rights and is currently a pro-bono privacy counsel for a non-profit organization focusing on financial education for SMEs. She is a frequent speaker and author on topics related to her legal practice. She received her LL.B. from Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and her LL.M. from Columbia Law School. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E).
