A new survey from research agency Gartner found 36% of respondents from various levels of government plan to increase AI and machine-learning investments in 2021. "Striking" among the findings, said Gartner's Public-Sector Research Director Dean Lacheca, is use of AI within government did not grow during the COVID-19 pandemic. "There is still a lot of talking about the impact it will have and some experimenting and some great point solutions, but adoption is still not widespread," he said.
