Hello, from Brussels.
Today, we’re looking at some updates on what the IAPP has been up to this year and what we are looking forward to in the coming months.
Our KnowledgeNets in the EMEA region have held 125 meetings with more than 9,800 IAPP registrants! There are more meetings planned for the coming months, so be sure to sign-up to receive KnowledgeNet invitations — you can do this in your MyIAPP account profile. If you need help, simply contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist!
If you are interested in becoming a Chapter Chair or Young Privacy Professional, be on the lookout for a note from us this September regarding the call for volunteers.
Now, some exciting news from the wonderful world of IAPP training. For all French and German speakers out there, updated instructor-led training (in-person and Live Online) and self-paced online training for CIPP/E and CIPM are coming! CIPP/E instructor-led training launched at the end of August and CIPM will launch at the end of September. These are quickly followed by the self-paced online trainings — CIPP/E in September and CIPM in November. Whew, that’s a lot of information. To stay up-to-date on all things training-related and not miss a launch, be sure to subscribe to the Training Post Monthly.
The CIPP/E and CIPM aren’t the only French language certifications from the IAPP: Launched in summer 2020, our CNIL-accredited CDPO/FR program continues to grow. This program is based on French data protection regulations and aims to certify the skills of a practitioner with reference to the requirements referred to in Section 4, Chapter IV of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
And of course, no update can be complete without looking at what is happening with our amazing conferences. We have missed seeing everyone over the last year and are continually monitoring the COVID-19 landscape to ensure we can safely bring people together again.
Our first planned event is the Data Protection Intensive: Deutschland 2021, 14 and 15 Sept., in Munich. Join us in Germany and hear from an amazing group of speakers on the latest data protection developments in German-speaking countries. If you’re interested in training on European data protection, there is a training immediately following the event, 16 and 17 Sept. (Please note that with one exception, this event and training will be entirely in German.)
Finally, the leading European data protection conference returns to Brussels. The IAPP Europe Data Protection Congress 2021 main conference is 17 and 18 Nov., with trainings and workshops 15 and 16 Nov. The event will bring together regulators and other experts to discuss the strategic developments in data protection, regionally and internationally.
Hope to see you at a conference, training or KnowledgeNet soon!
