Companion bills were re-filed in both chambers of the New York State Legislature for the enactment of the New York Privacy Act. Senate Bill 6701A and Assembly Bill 680A were both assigned to committees upon re-introduction. It's unclear if the bills have been altered from where they left off in the 2021 session, but those prior bills include a range of data subject rights and a private right of action. The legislative session ends June 10.
