OpenX and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission reached a $2 million settlement over allegations the California-based advertising platform violated the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. The FTC alleges the company collected personal information from children under the age of 13 without parental consent and collected location data from users who asked not to be tracked. The settlement requires OpenX to delete collected ad request data and to implement a privacy program in compliance with COPPA.
