The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority announced approval of proposed commitments from Google on projects in its Privacy Sandbox related to third-party cookie alternatives. The commitments include limited data sharing within Google's ecosystem, continued oversight from CMA and the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office, and a pledge to only curtail third-party cookies when CMA approves such action. ICO Regulatory Futures & Innovation Executive Director Stephen Bonner issued a statement supporting the commitments and highlighting how consumers benefit when "data protection, privacy and competition objectives have to be considered together."
