A new malware targeting Android phones is using fake COVID-19 updates as bait to gain control over devices, TechRepublic reports. The malware, called TangleBot, sends a message to phones offering a link to new COVID-19 information or even a booster shot appointment and will prompt users to update their Adobe Flash Player if they click the link. If installed, the malware has access to phone capabilities, including contacts and camera, and can overlay screens to steal further application information, such as banking information.
