European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs approved a proposal for an open banking system that would "keep (EU citizens') financial data safe and efficiently use them to get a better financial service." The framework would allow consumers to "decide how and by whom their financial data is used" while data access would be based on "customers' explicit permission."
