Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan appointed the state’s first chief privacy officer and chief data officer. Laura Gomez-Martin, the previous deputy chief information security officer, was appointed CPO. She’ll be responsible for the state’s privacy program and data protection initiatives. Patrick McLoughlin was appointed chief data officer, coming from engineering firm Johnson, Mirmiran, & Thompson where he was director of data solutions. He will supervise data use and management, facilitate interagency data sharing and produce a strategic state data plan.
