Multiple immigration rights groups filed a federal lawsuit against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement about its Alternatives to Detention program, Time reports. On April 14, Just Futures Law, Mijente and Community Justice Exchange sued ICE and demanded the agency release data being collected on individuals in the ATD program and how it is used, either by the government or by the for-profit contractors that use the technology. More than 216,000 people with pending immigration cases have been released from detention centers and into the ATD program.
