NL Times reports Netherlands-based advocacy groups are leading a new lawsuit against ByteDance, the parent company to video platform TikTok, over alleged children's privacy allegations. The Take Back Your Privacy Foundation and the Consumentenbond are suing for 2 billion euros in damages for what Consumentenbond Director Sandra Molenaar deemed "pure exploitation" of 1.5 million Dutch minors. TBYP Chair Friederike van der Jagt, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, alleges TikTok's actions have been "especially egregious" with more kids online during COVID-19. The advocacy groups previously filed a lawsuit in June against ByteDance for 1.5 billion euros with no results. Editor's note: The IAPP carries a children's privacy topic page in its Resource Center.
