U.K. Research and Innovation revealed it experienced a ransomware attack, ZDNet reports. The incident affected a portal used by the U.K. Research Office and an extranet used by UKRI councils. "At this stage, we cannot confirm whether any of that data was extracted from our systems whilst investigations continue," the UKRI said in a statement. "We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and apologize to all those affected."
