UK ministers told WhatsApp will leave country if Online Safety Bill isn't modified

U.K. ministers are being warned WhatsApp may shut down its services in the country if changes aren't made to the proposed Online Safety Bill, the Guardian reports. At the heart of the dispute are concerns by encrypted messaging app companies, including WhatsApp, that provisions in the legislation would require the companies to screen users' messages for child sexual abuse material, which would likely require the breaking of their end-to-end encryption. The companies have repeatedly stated they would leave the U.K. before complying with the law.
