Six Republican U.S. senators wrote to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen asking about TikTok’s data processing practices, MediaPost reports. Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Ben Sasse, R-Neb., Mike Braun, R-Ind., Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Todd Young, R-Ind., and Roger Wicker, R-Miss., claimed “serious (national) security risks,” are posed by parent company ByteDance’s China-based employees being able to access private U.S. user data, which came to light after a report by BuzzFeed News. Following the report, TikTok said all U.S. user data would be stored on Oracle servers.
