- Denmark’s data protection authority, Datatilsynet, recommended a fine of DKK 400,000 against the Central Jutland Region for not adequately protecting the region’s patient records stored in an archive with the Livstilscenter Brædstrup lifestyle center.
- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights announced its 20th investigation under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Right of Access Initiative. Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, in Omaha, Nebraska, agreed to corrective actions and an $80,000 fine to settle a potential violation of the HIPAA Privacy Rule’s right of access standard.
