The Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Hesse opened a probe into a potential connection between a German lab operator and Chinese-based genetics company BGI Group, Reuters reports. Eluthia GmbH released a statement saying it paused its partnership with BGI as the lab works to improve its data privacy practices. Prior reports claiming potential privacy issues related to data collected by BGI's prenatal blood tests prompted the investigation, according to the regulator.
