European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders and South Korea Personal Information Protection Commission Chair Yoon Jong In formally announced an adequacy agreement between the EU and South Korea for transfers of personal data. The adoption process began in June and included a review from the European Data Protection Board. The European Commission also published a question-and-answer document explaining how it reaches adequacy agreements in general and detailing specifics of the pact with South Korea. Editor's note: IAPP's Jetty Tielemans broke down the draft adequacy agreement between the two countries.
