Amazon appealed a 746 million euro fine from Luxembourg's National Commission for Data Protection after it was found in 2021 to be processing user data for advertisements without asking permission, Bloomberg reports. The company accused the CNPD of not giving it a chance to change its practices to align with the EU General Data Protection Regulation before issuing the penalty, an action characterized as being punitive.
