U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., reintroduced three pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen consumer data privacy protections. The proposed DATA Privacy Act would empower consumers to request organizations delete their data and allow them to opt out of data collection. The Promoting Digital Privacy Technologies Act would incentivize research into privacy-enhancing technologies. The Internet App ID Act would require app developers to disclose if it was developed in or if it stores collected data in China.
