A LexisNexis Risk Solutions study, "Fraud Trends to Watch in 2021," found the personal information of 45% of Americans was exposed in a data breach in the last five years, MediaPost reports. The study found hacks occur every 39 seconds and more than 4,500 data breaches have been publicly disclosed since 2005. It also identified a 48% increase in mobile fraud. “Consumer stress and fear can lead to riskier transaction behaviors,” the study said, adding this can result in increased theft of personal data.
