U.S. Sens. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., and Bill Cassidy, R-La., proposed the Healthcare Cybersecurity Act to protect health data amid increasing concerns of cyberthreats from Russia, InfoSecurity reports. Because of the sensitive and personal information health centers hold, Cassidy said they are “a prime target” for cyberattacks, adding, “This bill protects patients’ data and public health by strengthening our resilience to cyber warfare.” The proposal would require the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to conduct a study on cybersecurity risks to health care assets.
