U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., alongside a group of Democratic lawmakers, introduced the Health and Location Data Protection Act, which would ban data brokers from selling Americans’ health and location information. The proposal — amid potential for the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade — would require the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to create rules implementing the law within 180 days and “ensure robust enforcement of the bill’s provisions.” The FTC would receive $1 billion in funding over the next 10 years to support its efforts.
