The South China Morning Post reports potential user privacy issues have surfaced from messaging platform WeChat's online banking programs. The National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Centre of China filed a report noting a scan of 50 WeChat-supported personal banking mini programs revealed 90% of programs lacked protections for sensitive user data while 60% did not encrypt user data on a device or for transfers of data. CNCERT/CC did not reveal specifics about the programs or if the privacy issues have been resolved.
