The privacy authorities in Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec ordered Clearview AI to cease the collection, use and disclosure of images collected from individuals in Canada and to delete images and biometric data already in its possession, Yahoo News reports. The authorities issued the binding orders after a joint investigation with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, finding Clearview’s technology violated federal and provincial personal information regulations. If Clearview does not comply, the authorities said they will pursue “other actions available to us.”
