Global News reports the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada began an investigation into the country's ArriveCAN application, which collects health and personal data from those entering Canadian borders. The investigation is focused on the app's data collection and subsequent use and storage of data by Canadian authorities thereafter. The app launched in response to COVID-19 in 2020 and was geared toward tracking travelers' health and quarantine statuses. The app remains in use to enter Canada.
