In a blog post, Salinger Privacy Principal Anna Johnston, CIPP/E, CIPM, FIP, called for strengthening the Privacy Act's definition of "personal information." Johnston recommended adding a sentence that states an individual is "'reasonably identifiable' if they are capable of being distinguished from all others, even if their identity is not known.” She said it would "clear the fog, protect Australians the way they expect, simplify compliance, stop the disingenuous claims by industry, and bring Australian law closer to alignment with that of our trading partners."
