New Zealand grocery retailer Foodstuff's facial recognition program allegedly misidentified a Māori woman as a shoplifter, The New Zealand Herald reports. "Anyone who is Māori, Pasifika, any person of colour is not going to be recognised by the system," Māori Artificial Intelligence Advisor Panel Member Karaitiana Taiuru said. "That's why it's important that we have human double-checking (of) the system, which in this case failed."
