The Philippines National Privacy Commission entered into a memorandum of understanding with the country’s three largest telecommunications companies to improve their personal data protection practices, the Manila Bulletin reports. Per the MOU, a joint task force will be established with representatives from the NPC and telecommunications companies that will oversee implementation of the agreement. The purpose of the MOU is to help the companies better address fraud schemes, including scams involving the disclosure of personal information over text messages.
