A recent U.S. regulatory filing from Meta reiterated a likely suspension of EU services for Facebook and Instagram users if an EU-U.S. data transfer agreement isn't finalized soon, Bloomberg reports. Meta said the lack of a new transfer framework and the inability to rely on standard contractual clauses will "materially and adversely affect" its operations. The other 26 EU data protection authorities are deliberating on a draft decision from Ireland's Data Protection Commission that would halt Meta's use of SCCs to facilitate EU-U.S. transfers.
