The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office released guidance on direct marketing using electronic mail. It details what is needed to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, including what electronic mail marketing is and how to comply with rules on direct marketing. It also discusses the relationship between the PECR and data protection regulations, and what those rules mean for electronic mail marketing, as well as what happens in the event of noncompliance.
