U.K. Information Commissioner's Office Executive Director for Innovation and Technology Stephen Bonner, CIPP/E, CIPM, released a statement on the ICO's stance on the No Place to Hide campaign against end-to-end encryption and its potential negative effects on detecting online child abuse. Bonner said the current discussion around encryption is "too unbalanced to make a wise and informed choice," noting that encryption "serves an important role both in safeguarding our privacy and online safety." Bonner added the ICO is seeing "a range of other techniques and innovations available" beyond encryption that can help prevent abuses.
