The U.S. Federal Trade Commission offered guidance on privacy protections with Internet-of-Things devices in the wake of recent enforcement actions against Amazon's Alexa and Ring. The guidance note explains how the FTC will hold companies accountable for improper data use toward algorithms in addition to noting its attention to biometric and children's matters that led to the actions against Amazon. It also advised companies on the need for "special safeguards on human review and employee access to sensitive data."
