France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, opened a public consultation regarding draft recommendations for its action plan on mobile apps. Given the widespread use of smartphones by French citizens, the CNIL sought to provide greater legal certainty for processing cellular data and to make recommendations for the protection of privacy.
