South China Morning Post reports an unidentified Chinese company is drawing criticism over alleged employee privacy issues related to cellphone checks. The company was requiring some phone data submissions to allegedly monitor employee work patterns and "inspire work efficiency and team spirit." It's unclear whether the employee checks included personal information as defined covered by China's Personal Information Protection Law. A legal consulting hotline said Chinese employers have a right to such monitoring practices of employees during work hours.
