Axios reports on how China's Personal Information Protection Law signals the U.S. is falling further back on privacy. Ethyca CEO Cillian Kieran said the U.S. is "being left behind from a policy perspective on the global stage" without federal privacy legislation while Center for a New American Security Senior Fellow Martijn Rasser said it "impairs America's global leadership on the issue." As for PIPL's effects on U.S. companies, New America Foundation Cyber Policy Fellow Samm Sacks said organizations are "re-evaluating their exposure (to PIPL), and asking is it worth it or not" with perceived compliance burdens.
