British member of Parliament Stewart McDonald announced his email was hacked in a spearphishing effort by “suspected Russian threat actors,” InfoSecurity Magazine reports. McDonald said in a statement attempted hacks of fellow MPs “are continuous” and wanted to assure his constituents their information was safe, adding the attempted hacks “have not been successful.” McDonald said, however, “some” stolen information may be published online without offering a further description on the data taken. In January, McDonald said he opened a password-protected email sent from one of his staffer’s account, which was likely the spearphising attack.
