The U.K. Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport announced the finalization of the country's adequacy decision with South Korea. It is the first adequacy decision reached by the U.K. since departing the European Union. The DCMS said the decision and its "new freedoms" will benefit "many small and medium sized businesses who may have avoided international data transfers to Korea due to these burdens." The decision and subsequent legislation was presented to U.K. Parliament and is expected to take force Dec. 19.
