Brazil's Senate Plenary approved a proposed constitutional amendment making personal data protection a fundamental right for all citizens. The amendment will be promulgated in an upcoming session of the National Congress. The amendment offers "constitutional shelter" for the National Data Protection Authority provided for in the General Law of Data Protection, Sen. Simone Tebet said. She called it a "pioneering" amendment that "leaves no room for doubt for any normative evolution conditioned to the terms of the LGPD."
