In what can only be described as a standing-room only crowd at the IAPP Global Privacy Summit, new U.S. National Security Agency CLPO and long-time IAPP member Rebecca Richards made her first public statements yesterday in a conversation with last year’s Privacy Leadership Award-winner Danny Weitzner.

Though the back-and-forth was relatively short – the discussion was a last-minute addition to the Summit programming – attendees were clearly eager to hear from Richards and even got a few laughs along with information about how Richards intends to set about building her organization and what she found at the NSA when she showed up on day one.

In fact, the attendees seemed genuinely happy for Richards, applauding before she even said a word.
