New Zealand's Ministry of Justice announced a public consultation on potential amendments to data collection notification provisions under the Privacy Act 2020. The ministry is seeking changes to cover "when an agency collects their personal information indirectly through a third party" in an effort to promote further transparency. The proposed changes are touted as helping New Zealand keep "up to date with privacy laws and best practice in overseas jurisdictions" with a specific note to supporting cross-border data flows. The public comment deadline is Sept. 30.
